TranSiC has received 7 million to develop components in SiC

VINNOVA has recently distributed 350 million for research projects for future vehicles. The Alumni Company Transic gets 7 million to develop components in silicon carbide, higher efficiency, less cooling requirements and lower the cost of the drive.


Other project partners include Haldex, BAE Systems and QRtech. The goal is to develop components that enable cheaper and more efficient hybrid cars.

A total of 64 projects funded program due to FFI - Automotive Strategic Research and Innovation, a joint effort by the state and the automotive industry on research and innovation.

The project has now been granted a payment is in FFI's five main sections: Transport Efficiency, Vehicle Development, Vehicle & Road/traffic Safety, Energy & Environment and Sustainable Production. The goal of FFI is to reduce the environmental impact of road transport, reducing injuries and fatalities in traffic and to strengthen the Swedish automotive industry's international competitiveness.

FFI, Automotive Strategic Research and Innovation, is a collaboration between the state (VINNOVA, the Transport Administration and the Energy Agency) and the automotive industry (Scania CV, AB Volvo, Volvo Car Corporation, Saab Automobile and FKG) to jointly fund the research, innovation and development activities focusing on the areas Climate & Environment, and Security. The initiative has annual sales of 1 billion, half of which are public funds. 156 projects were financed in 2009.
